Jennifer D'Amore was born and raised in the shadows of New York City, where her life was influenced by a mosaic of culture and music. Classically trained in the arts, technically trained in film editing, she combines both in mutually beneficial projects with international artists. With undergraduate sculptural work often compared to Kiki Smith, her conceptual work evolved to require more dimensions moving from 2D to 3D or more, creating interactive and wearable sculptures that developed into performance pieces and incorporated film, initially as an exploration of capturing not just the information, but also the experience of live art performances.
Jen has decades of experience with art and media organizations, in positions that range from technical and organizational to creative, including everything from broadcast technician for television and rotoscoping for film, to set painter and costume assistant for theater. Five years at Phoenix Art Group included both supervising the frame department, and producing fine art for the art department. She has been represented by Art Haus International and her paintings have shown in galleries including Renee Taylor Gallery, and Horizon Art.
Determined to work on film projects that are educational, inspirational, or bring about awareness, Jen has been a video editor and motion graphics artist for projects and companies including Fender Musical Instrument Company, Future Arts Research Project, online education leader lynda.com, and the feature documentaries “Alt for Beffen” and “The Song Within”. In 2016, Jen took the leap from a comfy dotCom position to explore more of the world, connect with international artists, and seek unique creative opportunities. As a digital nomad she has worked on projects in Norway and Thailand, and collaborated with film director Anne Magnussen to co-design and create a video art exhibition at the Ilmin Museum of Art in Seoul.
Currently, Jennifer is a media producer / advisor in the Media Lab at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences where some of her work includes the use of virtual reality. During the Off-Piste Virtual Reality Storytelling workshop, led by Crossover Labs, she and a team created a functioning prototype of the VR experience “Journey of Water”. As an active member of Dikkedokken Filmlaug, Jennifer is a liaison and creative collaborator on international projects.
As film editor, dramaturg, and motion graphics artist, Jennifer collaborated with director Anne Magnussen to bring the Norwegian documentary “Alt for Beffen” to the big screen. It premiered in 2021 at BIFF (Bergen International Film Festival).
Exciting new work is being created with artist and collaborator Enara Barnés Larrukert, including Tree-Dimensions an immersive visual and audio installation presented during Kulturnatt at BEK (Bergen Electronic Arts Center), 2021.
